Jack Groot

Jack Groot, principal founder of the Midwest Barista School

Jack was born and raised in West Michigan and has been in the hospitality industry most of his adult life. He graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Food Service Management in 1983. From there he worked in food service and then the automotive industry before opening his first business in 1993. He has since opened a coffee business, contributed to several publications, including the coffee magazine Specialty Coffee Retailer, and is now the principal of the Midwest Barista School.

Principal of the Midwest Barista School (MBS)
Principal of On Track Coffee Consulting.
Monthly Columnist for the coffee magazine, Specialty Coffee Retailer magazine.
Created a Coffee Business System that won Best New Product at Coffee Fest Chicago in 2005.
Created a juice and smoothie bar concept which he franchised and sold to a Nashville-based company.
A certified judge for SCAA Barista Competitions.
